JOB SUMMARY:

Team member that participates and mentors team members in the production and repair of metalworking dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and cutting tools, applying knowledge of machining and tool & die construction.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supports and mentors the team through the use of best Tool & Die fabrication practices and machining techniques.
  • Able to troubleshoot plastic injection mold tools.
  • Assists in maintaining shop materials, tools and supply inventory.
  • Completes department purchase requisitions with subcontractors and confirming delivery with Receiving.
  • Proficient in the use of EDM sinkers 2 or 3 axis CNC milling machine, CNC lathe, and grinding equipment.
  • Full understanding of heat treating, grinding, cavity surfacing and engraving methods.
  • Schedules wire EDM, heat treating, pin grinding, cavity surfacing and engraving with local vendors.
  • Proficient in G-code programming and outputting conversational language to CNC equipment.
  • Proficient in CAD and 3D software, preferably Solidworks/CAMworks.
  • Effectively communicates with Supervisors, Team Lead, peers and co-workers via email, phone and face to face discussions in order to meet department goals and deadlines.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 5 or more years of previous Tool & Die plastic injection mold building and troubleshooting experience.


EDUCATION: Tool and Die plastic injection mold building experience. High School/G.E.D or Machinist/Tool Maker equivalent experience.


BASIC SKILLS: Reading and comprehension, math skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, MRP systems and computer skills.


EQUIPMENT: Qualified candidate must provide their own personal equipment and tools used in tool and die construction.


TECHNICAL SKILLS: High level of mechanical assembly, reading technical prints, 3D software and CAD/CAM experience. Must be proficient with the maintenance and use of all equipment in the Shop, this includes but not limited to CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, band saw, drill press, EDM sinker, pin grinder, and CNC magnetic table grinder.
