JOB SUMMARY:
The Regulatory Compliance & Sustainability Specialist is responsible for ensuring company-wide adherence to environmental and product regulatory requirements while advancing corporate sustainability goals. This role leads the development and execution of compliance programs, conducts regulatory risk assessments, and drives environmental initiatives across the organization. Collaborating closely with teams such as Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Senior Management, the specialist integrates sustainable practices into operations and supports global compliance efforts to protect both the company and the environment.
DUTIES/RESPONSBILITIES:
Job Functions
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and interpret existing and emerging environmental regulations (e.g., PFAS, TSCA, REACH, RoHS, SCIP, Conflict Minerals, Prop 65) that impact company products and operations.
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
Lead the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, including SCIP notifications, PFAS submissions, and other compliance reports.
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, customers, and suppliers regarding compliance matters.
Maintain and update compliance documentation and databases to ensure accurate and timely record-keeping.
Sustainability Initiatives:
Develop and implement sustainability programs aligned with corporate goals and industry best practices.
Conduct environmental impact assessments and life cycle analyses to identify opportunities for reducing the company’s environmental footprint.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainability projects, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and resource conservation initiatives.
Report on sustainability performance metrics and progress towards goals for senior management.
Supplier Management:
Work with suppliers to gather necessary compliance data and ensure adherence to environmental and safety standards.
Oversee the integration of compliance tools, such as Source Intelligence or Assent, to streamline supplier data collection and reporting.
Conduct supplier audits to verify compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements.
Training and Development:
Develop and deliver training programs for employees on regulatory compliance and sustainability topics.
Mentor and support team members in recognizing and addressing compliance-related tasks and challenges.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance regulatory compliance and sustainability practices.
Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in environmental compliance and sustainability.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
2-4 years of experience in regulatory compliance, environmental management, or sustainability engineering is preferred.
Strong knowledge of global environmental regulations and standards (e.g., PFAS, TSCA, REACH, RoHS).
Experience with compliance management software and tools (e.g., Source Intelligence, Assent).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
