JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Quality Inspector II is responsible for performing incoming inspections to ensure materials, components, and products conform to approved specifications, engineering drawings, and purchase order requirements. This role applies advanced inspection skills, supports quality system compliance, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts within the Quality Assurance function.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform incoming inspections of routed materials in accordance with established quality procedures, control plans, and inspection instructions.
  • Verify that parts and materials meet the current revision of engineering drawings and purchase order requirements; document and report revision discrepancies per defined procedures.
  • Record inspection results in designated computer systems and generate nonconforming material reports (NCMRs) as required.
  • Move inspected material to appropriate inventory locations based on inspection results.
  • Observe and comply with all safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of electrical tools, machinery, and applicable chemicals.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Quality Assurance team by supporting improvements to quality processes, procedures, work instructions, forms, and records.
  • Assist with data collection and determine appropriate statistical analysis methods to support inspection and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and support inspection programs for automated measurement equipment such as CMMs and image measurement systems.
  • Set up, maintain, and verify calibration and inspection programs to ensure equipment accuracy and reliability.
  • Communicate with engineering regarding drawing discrepancies and tolerance concerns, including recommendations to improve inspection effectiveness and reduce unnecessary part rejection.
  • Communicate Inspection results and quality concerns with internal departments and external suppliers as required.
  • Assist with training and knowledge sharing with peers regarding inspection techniques, equipment, and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional quality, inspection, or related technical certifications required.
  • Five (5) or more years of inspection or quality control experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard measuring and inspection equipment. including micrometers, calipers, verniers, thickness gauges, CMMs, optical or camera comparators, and other specialized inspection tools.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and samples.
  • Working knowledge of electrical test equipment and documented inspection processes.
  • Strong math, analytical, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good visual acuity required for detailed inspection tasks.
  • Internal Quality Auditor training or experience preferred.
