JOB SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, supports all aspects of assigned manufacturing department including assisting with the release of new designs to production, troubleshooting processes and tooling, training Production Operators, contributing to root cause analysis and analyzing data. Assists with daily production needs. Observes all safety regulations including the use of personal protective equipment applicable to the use of electrical tooling and equipment, the use of heavy equipment and machinery, and the use of chemicals.

Demonstrates and maintains competency, productivity, and quality levels for available skills in respective department and job function. This is defined by the skills matrix and verified by the Supervisor or Team Lead. Demonstrated training and problem resolution skills.

Similar or additional skills obtained from other departments may be factored into this requirement.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates with Engineering, management, and co-workers to meet department goals and deadlines.
  • Provides on-the job training to Production Operators and Machine Operators.
  • Works cooperatively with Engineering groups and R & D Lab to introduce new products, processes, or tests.
  • Proves out new product designs to ensure long-term manufacturability by performing initial production builds, reviewing documentation, and establishing long term sustainability of production processes.
  • Assists with developing work documentation to best suit the needs of product designs and manufacturability. Ensures documentation is ready for subsequent production orders.
  • Provides input to Engineering on optimal tooling and fixture design and machine settings.
  • Assists with the rollout of new products and processes to general production.
  • Completes in-process inspection including first-piece and pre-encapsulation inspection where required.
  • Participates in the FAAR process where required.
  • Supports requests for special tests or altered assembly processes based on Engineering requests. Provides feedback to Engineering, Management, and assembly personnel.
  • Performs diagnostic and repair operations for faulty products. Communicates outcome with appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to read and understand product structures, work instructions and prints.
  • As part of a team, supports and participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Completes required paperwork, maintaining accurate inventory counts, test records and other documentation.
  • Completes production assignments as required.
  • Dispositions rejected product to appropriate areas.
  • Interacts positively with co-workers and leadership team.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


General Production

  • Typically, 5-7 years’ related on-the-job experience.
  • Experience soldering, laminating, electrical and mechanical assembly, and testing based on requirements in assigned production group.
  • Problem solving: the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Visualization: the ability to imagine how something will look after it is assembled, moved around or when its parts are rearranged.
  • Reasoning Skills: the ability to apply general knowledge to specific problems to produce answers.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to develop the skill of Production and Machine Operators.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office.

PCB

  • Typically, 2-4 years’ related soldering experience or technical certificate.
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Able to troubleshoot to basic electronic component level.
  • Able to work with a microscope.
  • Familiarity with a variety of test equipment including power supplies, volt-ohm meters and frequency counters.
  • Interfaces with Engineering disciplines to resolve product and test issues.

Above Deck

  • Typically, 5-7 years’ related on-the-job experience or technical certificate.
  • Operates test equipment required by Above Deck products including performing calibration, programming, verification and upgrades on PC and non-PC equipment such as meters, wind tunnels, tilt and Scorsby rebots.
  • Reworks defective assemblies in coordination with Sustaining Engineer.
