MSI Quality Manager/Inspector

JOB SUMMARY:

MSI develops and manufactures highly complex electro-mechanical sonar assemblies for defense and commercial applications. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Manager/Inspector to join our team. The Quality Manager/Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that our products and services meet all necessary requirements before they reach the consumer by examining products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications. This is a hands on position and requires daily inspections as well as montoring, maintaining and improving our Quality Management System (QMS). The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong attention to detail. This role is vital to ensuring the highest quality standards in our production processes, safeguarding our reputation for excellence and reliability.


JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with national and international standards, as well as customer requirements.
  • Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop quality assurance strategies and test plans.
  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits to ensure adherence to QMS.
  • Identify and implement continuous process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce defects, and enhance product quality.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits to assess performance and improvements.
  • Use precision measuring tools and equipment to check dimensions, performance, and material quality.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspection tests to identify defects or deviations from quality standards.
  • Use statistical tools and methods to analyze process trends and drive improvements.

USEFUL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in using precision mechanical measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical measurement equipment, etc.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
  • Good technical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proven experience in leading quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality system standards (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Standard computer skills including operation of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Defense or Aerospace experience is a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years experience in quality inspection and 1-3 years in quality management.
