MSI develops and manufactures highly complex electro-mechanical sonar assemblies for defense and commercial applications. The Production Technician II will participate in the production of electromechanical devices including assembly, fabrication, and wiring using established techniques. He/she will operate under moderate supervision of Engineering and Manufacturing and follow written instructions to perform many of the functions of the job.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Technician II to join our transducer development team. The ideal candidate will play an important role in supporting the design, development, and testing of transducers and subassemblies. The Production Technician II will collaborate closely with Engineers to ensure the successful development of new products.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Builds and tests transducers for internal and external customers using verbal and/or written instructions.
Assembles and tests electrical components, prototypes, and systems.
Uses epoxies, adhesives, cleaning solvents and other chemicals as needed.
Uses variety of hand tools to fabricate parts for use in new and existing transducer designs.
Completes in-process inspection including first-piece and pre-encapsulation inspection where required.
Collaborates with Engineers to develop, refine and improve processes and products.
Collaborates with Engineers to develop and execute rework or repair plans for products as needed.
Performs diagnostic and repair operations for faulty products. Communicates outcome with appropriate personnel.
As part of a team, supports and participates in continuous improvement activities.
Completes required paperwork, maintaining accurate inventory counts, test records and other documentation.
Demonstrates precise hand-eye coordination in the ability to work on intricate assemblies.
Observes all safety regulations including personal protective equipment applicable to the use of electrical tooling and equipment and applicable to the use of chemicals.
Performs other duties as required or directed.
EDUCATION/EXPEIENCE:
Mix, dispense and apply adhesives, epoxies and potting materials.
Use of mechanical measurement instruments including calipers and micrometers.
Basic soldering skills.
Proven experience with mechanical assemblyand electrical wiring.
Must be able to read and understand performance specifications, technical manuals, schematics and written/verbal instructions.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
High attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Able to resolve technical issues in the absence of the Supervisor, including communication with Engineering and Management.
Standard computer skills including operation of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
High school diploma or equivalent and 3 - 5 years related on the job experience.

Ability to wear protective clothing such as mask, gloves, safety glasses and or safety shoes as required.
Ability to perform repetitive or routine duties working from detailed instructions and under standard procedures.
Ability to endure periods of heavy workload or excessive stress.
The candidate must be a US citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance.
