JOB SUMMARY:
The Logistics & Distribution Specialist is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, shipping and receiving activities, inventory movement, freight coordination, and distribution processes to ensure timely and accurate product flow throughout the organization. This role maintains inventory accuracy, supports customer order fulfillment, coordinates inbound and outbound freight, and ensures warehouse facilities, shipping stations, and operational supplies are properly maintained.
The position works closely with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, and transportation providers to support timely deliveries, inventory availability, and overall operational efficiency. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Warehouse Operations
Perform daily warehouse operations to ensure efficient product storage, handling, and distribution.
Maintain organized warehouse locations, storage areas, and inventory staging areas.
Ensure warehouse cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are consistently maintained.
Conduct routine warehouse inspections and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
Assist with warehouse layout and storage optimization initiatives.
Shipping & Receiving
Process and coordinate daily inbound and outbound shipments.
Prepare, package, label, and ship customer orders accurately and on schedule.
Operate and maintain shipping systems, including ShipWorks and related shipping platforms.
Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and receiving documentation.
Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, damage, or discrepancies and coordinate resolution as needed.
Maintain shipping records, tracking information, and related documentation.
Review customer orders for special instructions, routing requirements, labeling requirements, and shipping preferences prior to fulfillment.
Verify order accuracy, quantities, packaging requirements, and shipping methods before processing shipments.
Identify and escalate order discrepancies, shortages, or special handling requirements prior to shipment.
Inventory Control
Monitor inventory levels and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, adjustments, and reconciliation processes.
Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, and stock reconciliations.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and support corrective actions.
Stock products in designated warehouse locations and maintain inventory organization.
Perform inventory transfers and replenishment activities.
Coordinate inbound and outbound freight shipments with carriers and logistics providers.
Schedule freight pickups and deliveries.
Monitor shipment status and proactively address transportation delays or service issues.
Maintain freight documentation, Bills of Lading (BOL), and shipment records.
Assist with freight claims, damaged shipments, and carrier-related issues.
Facility & Operational Supply Management
Monitor and replenish warehouse supplies, shipping materials, packaging supplies, and operational consumables.
Maintain shipping stations, packing areas, and related equipment in an organized and operational condition.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Sales, Purchasing, Finance and Operations teams to support business requirements.
Communicate shipment status, inventory concerns, and operational issues to appropriate stakeholders.
Assist with process improvement initiatives that enhance warehouse efficiency, shipping accuracy, and inventory control.
Typical Daily Activities
Processing customer shipments and printing shipping documentation.
Operating ShipWorks and related shipping systems.
Receiving and inspecting inbound freight shipments.
Stocking inventory and organizing warehouse locations.
Performing cycle counts and inventory checks.
Coordinating freight pickups and deliveries.
Monitoring shipment tracking and delivery status.
Maintaining warehouse cleanliness and organization.
Replenishing shipping supplies and operational materials.
Investigating shipment discrepancies and inventory issues.
Supporting customer order fulfillment activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, shipping, receiving, or distribution.
Experience with shipping platforms such as ShipWorks preferred.
Experience using ERP or inventory management systems preferred.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
