POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for maintaining and expanding existing business relationships while identifying and developing new business opportunities for Airmar’s Industrial and Weatherstation divisions. Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, this role partners with customers, channel partners, Product Management, Engineering, and Operations teams to connect market needs with Airmar’s sensor solutions and deliver sustainable growth.
The Business Development Manager will manage the business-development process from opportunity identification through qualification, proposal, and handoff to the appropriate sales and operational teams. This is an onsite position in Milford, NH with frequent domestic and international travel as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development & Growth
Maintain and grow productive relationships with existing customers, distributors, representatives, and strategic partners across the Industrial and Weatherstation divisions.
Identify, research, qualify, and develop new business opportunities in target markets and customer segments.
Develop account and opportunity plans that support revenue growth, customer retention, and expansion of Airmar’s product footprint.
Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer requirements, and emerging applications to recommend priority opportunities.
Customer & Channel Engagement
Conduct customer discovery meetings, presentations, demonstrations, and follow-up activities to understand needs and position appropriate solutions.
Develop trusted relationships with technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders and serve as a responsive point of contact throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
Support channel-partner development and coordinate activities that improve market coverage, lead flow, and customer engagement.
Represent Airmar at customer visits, industry events, trade shows, and other business-development activities as assigned.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with the Director of Sales to prioritize opportunities, coordinate coverage, and ensure timely progression of qualified leads.
Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to align customer needs with product capabilities, roadmaps, and delivery requirements.
Prepare business cases, proposals, presentations, and commercial recommendations in support of new and existing opportunities.
Communicate customer feedback and market intelligence to inform product, pricing, marketing, and sales strategies.
Pipeline & Performance Management
Track opportunity progress, conversion metrics, account activity, and business-development results; provide regular reports to the Director of Sales.
Meet or exceed agreed-upon activity, pipeline, revenue, and new-business objectives.
Follow company policies, pricing guidelines, and commercial processes while maintaining professional and ethical business practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Technical Field, or equivalent experience required.
Experience
5+ years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or a related commercial role, preferably within a technical, industrial, or manufacturing organization.
Proven ability to maintain existing customer relationships and generate, qualify, and develop new business opportunities.
Experience working with technical products, customer applications, distribution channels, or industrial markets.
